Originally from a small town in Arizona, I was a carefree kid and always filled with imaginative ideas. Then, at age 14, I started to take an interest in theatre; mainly theatrical lighting design. Working in theatre opened my eyes to the art of design and color and was an excellent outlet for my new craft. I would later go further with my craft and receive a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree from the University of Arizona.
In 2003 I got married and moved to the East Coast. The stark difference in landscape was amusing at first, but I was lessthan pleased after the first snowfall. I found a small commu nity theatre group and started to design. Slowly but surely, I started takingan avid part in the painting and prop building.
It was the painting and creating for this community theatre that made me start taking a passionate interest in personal crafts. I started off with jewelry and soon expanded to decorations and novelty items.
With a few interesting stops along the way, I’m now settled in Maryland. I quickly rediscovered my affection for painting and a conversation with a dear friend led to an inquiry about face and body painting. Face and body painting has brought a new meaning to “paint” to me. It’s not just paint, it’s an art form. From butterflies and princesses to monsters and Spiderman, the ideas and colors to form a quality design is worth the smiles it brings. The rest is history!
